Carrie A. Smith , a loving mother, daughter, sister , and aunt, 68, died unexpectedly April 14, 2022, at Indianola Rehabilitation and Health Center , Indianola, MS. She was born October 14, 1953, in Arcola, MS, the daughter of Lucille (Henry Bonney), and Rufus Anderson.

Carrie graduated from Simmons High School in Hollandale, MS, Class of 71. Upon her graduating from high school, she matriculated to Coahoma Junior College where she graduated with an AA Degree. This was not the end of her educational quest, for in 1972 she attended Tougaloo College where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. Some years later Carrie earned and received a Master's degree from Delta State University in Counseling. She completed her educational course with honors.

Carrie had an extensive career in the Health and Human Service Field. Carrie begun her career as a Juvenile Probation Counselor, with the Washington County Family Courts in Greenville, MS. Carrie later became one of the first Federal Adult Probation Officers with the State of Mississippi Department of Corrections. After many years in the field, she decided to embark on a new career path. Carrie became an invaluable employee with the Delta Regional Mental Health Center of Greenville, MS as a Mental Health Director of Counseling. Carrie received many accolades and commendations for her dedication and outstanding services to the mental health community, as well as her outstanding leadership.

Carrie expressed her love for God and fellow man at an early age by making a public de dication to God through baptism by the late Reverend E.L. Young of Sunrise Baptist Church of Trailake , MS. Carrie later as an adult joined the Saint Peter East Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville, MS where she remained a member until her death.

In addition to Carrie's parents, she was predeceased by a beloved son, Mark A. Smith. Surviving is her daughter , DonYea Smith of Dumas , A R ; Five sisters and three brothers: Maxine Harris (Clifton Harris-deceased), Roeshirley Webb(LC Webb) of Arcola, MS, Mary Jackson-Hudson (Jimmy Hudson) of Memphis, TN, Geri Bonney-Davis (Maurice Davis) of Las Vegas, NV ; Senthan Lee (Ronnie Lee) of Visalia, CA; Henry Bonney Jr.(Nancy-deceased) of Mound Bayou, MS, Jack C. Bonney of Arcola, MS, Julian D. Bonney of Lake Village, A R . Seven grandchildren: Christina A. Coates, Brianna A. Coates, Kenyatta L. Wilson, Raven Hornes, Jhiai S. Sims, Marquish A. Bridges, Carrie Jean Smith. Great Grand: Kingston A. Bridges. A host of nieces and nephews and friends.

Carrie, your smile, your laughter, love and compassion will be greatly missed. Carrie 's favorite words of expression was to anyone who had the privilege to meet and know her w ere "I love you and you are so sweet and kind". Th ose were the attributes she portrayed.
