Eddie "Cuz" Black was born on October 2, 1938, in Anguilla, MS to the late Kecelia Smith and the late William Black Jr.

In his early years of life, he attended grammar school in Anguilla and grew up on Fields Plantation. He confessed his faith in Christ at Union Chapel M. B. Church in Anguilla, Mississippi, under the leadership of Rev. C.D. Dixon. He was also a faithful deacon at Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Throughout his life he was always a hardworking man devoted to his family. He was employed in the farming industry until the age of 73. One of his biggest accomplishments was being a father.

Eddie Black departed his earthly life on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Mckinney, TX. His tireless love and devotion to his family were evident in his final moments.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Black; fathers, Henry Smith and William Black; mother, Kecelia Smith; four sisters, Sadie (Bobby) Davis, Orangie Lee Jackson, Ruby (Moses) Castle, and Rose Mary (James) Oliver and four brothers William Black III, Willie Black, Clyde Black, and John Black.

Cuz leaves to cherish his memories two children: Kimberly (Ebony) Black-Candler of Frisco, TX and Donald Booker of Yazoo City, MS; five sisters Laura Black of Houston, TX, Mildred Smith of Greenville, MS, Dorothy (Harrison) Diggs of Pearl, MS, Wanda (Roosevelt) Harris of Vicksburg, MS, Betty Smith of Roswell, Georgia; four brothers, Henry (Betty) Smith and Johnny (Rose) Hackett both of Anguilla, MS, Charlie Black and Freddie Black of Houston, TX; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with as well as those he reached but never met.
