Floyd "Doc" Hampton was born on March 13, 1936 to George and Cornelius Hampton in Anguilla, Mississippi. Doc, as he was affectionately called, accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Rose Hill Baptist Church in Anguilla, MS. He attended Sharkey County Public Schools.

Doc married Willie Watts and worked to provide for his growing family. As a hard worker, Doc's employment began with Maranto's Store in 1965, when he became a meat cutter. He would continue to work in this industry as he worked for years with Sunflower Inc. until he retired in 2017. In his early life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and of course, cooking for friends and family. Doc always had a smile and a story to tell whether you saw him around the community or when serving customers at Sunflower Grocery.

Many family and friends enjoyed his skillful techniques in making what came to be known as Doc's Sausages. He also prepared holiday turkeys for many years for families in Sharkey County.

When he was not working or spending time with family, He enjoyed spending time with friends, out on the River. He was a lifetime member of the Sky Unlimited Social & Civic Club.

Doc transitioned to his heavenly rest on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS following a brief period of illness.

Doc was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Watts Hampton; parents George and Cornelius Hampton; sisters: Clotee Lampkin, Ruby Robinson and Atlean Atlas; brothers: George Hampton, Harvey Hampton, Clinton Hampton, and PD Hampton.

He leaves to cherish his memories daughters Jacqueline (Walter) Hampton of Anguilla, MS; Linda Watts of Rolling Fork, MS; Gloria Whitaker of Illinois; Tonya Rodgers of Georgia; sons Henry Watts of Rolling Fork, MS; Geno (Tricia) Witherspoon of St. Louis, MO: grandchildren: Sedrick, Kenya, Terrance, Ashley, Travis, Geno, Corey, Jason, Ormond, Porsha, Jeremy, Shadai, Laila, and Matthew: twenty-eight great grandchildren; one sister: Lorene Green of Chicago, IL; special nieces and nephews: Dot, Ruth, Alma, James, Hope and Betty; his sister in law, Corinne Lovette of Anguilla, MS; a godson Rodrick Lewis of Rolling Fork, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews that he adored. In addition, he will be fondly remembered by the members of the Sky Unlimited Social & Civic Club.
