Helen Jean Bush was the second born of nine siblings in Anguilla, Mississippi to the late Joseph and Bessie Brown, who both preceded her in death. Helen passed away peacefully on Friday, February 25, 2022, at her home in Greenville, Mississippi.

Helen Jean Bush became a devoted Christian at an early age. She lived in the Mississippi Delta most of her life. She graduated from Henry Weathers in 1965 and she later attended Mississippi Valley State University. She worked many years for MACE and was the Director of Sharkey- Issaquena County Improvement Association (SICIA), a MACE Affiliate. She was a civil rights/community activist and would help wherever needed. She was a part of the Delta Health Network and was devoted to her community. She became an Alderwoman for the Town of Anguilla to continue her mission to help her community. She loved life and everyone that she came in contact with.

Helen Jean Bush was married in holy matrimony to William Curtis Bush and to this union, they were blessed with six children.

Helen Jean Bush was preceded in death by (1) son, Anthony Bush and (4) sisters, Shirley Cotton, Jeanette Brown, Sezzie Townsend, and Blanche Mayes.

She leaves to cherish all her great memories, (3) Sons, Gerald (Karen) Bush of Indiana, Curtis (Jasmine) Bush, and LaQuin (Shalonda) Bush both of Texas; (4) Daughters, Gladys Jenkins, of Mississippi, Betsy Bush of Tennessee, Regina Adkisson and Christy (Bennie) Smith both of Mississippi; (26) Grandchildren; (11) Great grandchildren; (1) Brother, Howard Brown of Mississippi; (5) Sisters, Calvernell Brown of Wisconsin, Cora Corley of New Jersey, Georgia Jenkins of Mississippi, Ethel Brown of Wisconsin, and Josephine Pritchett of Illinois; (1) Aunt, Mattie Stevenson of Mississippi; (2) Brother-in-laws, William Corley of New Jersey and Dennis Jenkins of Mississippi (2) Uncles, Robert Brown and Joe Lewis Brown both of Mississippi; (2) Very dear friends, Collie Jean Barnes and Aloise Lane, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
