Obituary

Irene Quintanilla Sanchez, 42, passed away on September 7, 2026. She was born on March 23, 1984, in Weslaco, Texas, to Irene Zavala Quintanilla and Bernardino Quintanilla.

Irene was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She was the proud mother of four beautiful children: her oldest son, Armando Sanchez Jr., and his partner, Eric Velazquez; her daughter, Nilah Liggins, and her husband, Terrance Liggins; her son, Tristan C. Moore; and her son, Edward C. Moore Jr.

One of Irene's greatest joys was being a grandmother. She deeply loved her grandchildren, Xavier Lee Sanchez and Xzyla Renee Liggins, and treasured every moment she was able to spend with them.

Irene shared a special bond with her family, including her brothers, Mario Quintanilla and his wife, Rocio Quintanilla, and Danial Saenz; and her sisters, Christy Lee Villarreal and her husband, Victor Villarreal, and Herminia Rodriquez and her husband, Gabriel Rodriquez. She was also dearly loved by her many nieces and nephews.

Irene was an outgoing woman with a big personality and an unforgettable presence. She was never afraid to speak her mind or share her opinion, but behind that strong personality was a kind and charismatic heart. She had a special way of connecting with people. Irene could meet a complete stranger, and before long, they could feel as though they had known her their entire life.

She enjoyed going to Bingo, listening to 80s music, and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and family. Irene cherished reminiscing about her mother and father and the memories she carried with her throughout her life.

Irene was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Irene Zavala Quintanilla, and her beloved father, Bernardino Quintanilla. The love and memories she shared with them remained close to her heart throughout her life.

Her laughter, honesty, kindness, and larger-than-life personality will be deeply missed. The memories she created and the love she gave will continue to live on through those who knew and loved her.

Irene will forever be loved and remembered by her four children, her grandchildren, her siblings, nieces and nephews, extended family, and the many friends whose lives she touched.

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."
