Graveside services for Jessie Merrill, 66, will be at 12 noon Saturday, May 22, at St. Peter Cemetery in Mayersville, MS. Rev. Travis Gully will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Friday, May 21, in Adele Walker Memorial Chapel at the funeral home.
Jessie was born on December 20, 1954 to the late Lee and Lula Mae Merrill in Rolling Fork, Mississippi. He accepted Christ at an early age.
He received his early education from Sharkey Issaquena School District and graduated high school from Rolling Fork High School. Shortly after graduation, Jessie joined the Mississippi Army National Guard. He served as a Mechanic stationed at Camp Shelby. After departing from the military, Jessie devoted over 30 years in the automotive industry as a Master Technician.
Jessie graced this earth with a bright smile and an illustrious sense of humor. He filled every room with laughter and love. To all Jessie was outspoken, hardworking, a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Jessie spent his final days in Mayersville around his family and friends until he was called to be with our heavenly father on May 15, 2021.
Jessie was preceded in death by his parents, the late Lee and Lula Mae Merrill and his brothers, Leon Thompson, Henry Fleming, Saul Merrill, and Curtis Williams.
His love and laughter will forever live in the hearts of his daughter Kendra Magee (Keione), son Jessie Louis Merrill Jr. (Robin), son Jerald Vincent Merrill ( Alisha); his grandchildren, Kevonte Robinson, Javier Robinson, Jaiden Merrill, Camryn Robinson, Jordan Merrill, and Keandra Magee;eight sisters, Rebecca Brenton of New Baltimore, MI, Marie Merrill of Rolling Fork, MS, Roberta Cartwright of Rolling Fork, MS, Shirley Upshaw of Detroit, MI, Ledora Yates of Clinton, MS, Darlene Jackson of Vicksburg, MS, Lesa Clark of Atlanta, GA, and Helen Reed of Mayersville, MS; two brothers, James Merrill of Gonalez, LA and Harry Merrill of Canton, MI, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
