Obituary

Larry Thomas entered this life on April 07, 1960, to the late Moses Malone and the late Josephine Thomas in Anguilla, Mississippi.

He departed this life on August 03, 2022, at the Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville, Mississippi.

He was baptized at an early age at Christian Light M.B. Church, Anguilla, Mississippi under the leadership of late V.T. Taylor.

Larry was a very active member of the Christian Light M.B. Church.  He was a Sunday School teacher, assistant superintendent of Sunday School, and later became superintendent.  He taught Bible class. He was also a Deacon, Church treasurer, and member of the male choir.

He graduated from Henry Weather High School, Rolling Fork, Mississippi in 1978. After high school, he attended Mississippi Valley State University and majored in Mathematics. He received his bachelor's degree in May 1983.

Larry began his educational career as a mathematics teacher in August 1983, at Anguilla High School.  During his educational journey, Larry held many jobs, bus driver, yard maintenance, assistant baseball coach, assistant football coach, head football coach, and athletic director for South Delta Middle School.  He retired in May 2015, where he served 32 years in education. After he retired, Larry returned to serve as a member of the South Delta School Board.

Larry married his high school sweetheart, Olivia Davis on September 13, 1984; and to this union, three children were born.

Larry was a much-loved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.  He loved teaching and talking to many many people.  His pride and joy were Kristie, Knesha, and Makaylah (Kay).

Larry was preceded in death by his son, Larry Tredell Davis, mother, Josephine Thomas; father, Moses Malone; a sister, Liz Murray; two brothers, James Thomas and Charlie Thomas.

Larry leaves to cherish his precious memories a wife, Olivia; two daughters, Kristie Thomas, Anguilla, MS, and Knesha Thomas, Nashville, TN;  one granddaughter, Makaylah Thomas; five sisters, Carolyn Jones, Linda (Kenneth) Bolden, Cutina (Donald) Jackson, all of Anguilla, MS, Debra Thomas, Arlington, VA, Ruby Dyer, Los Angeles, CA; two brothers, Sammie (Linda) Thomas, Chicago, IL, George (Gloria) Dyer, Los Angeles, CA, his teacher/mentor and friend Sammie Ivy; his closest friends/classmates, Otis Williams, Terry Moore, Dan Young, Charles Thomas and Albert Holmes, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors that loved him dearly.
