Lawanda Yvette Hampton was born on November 22, 1977, to Rosie Hampton and the late Henry L. Cody.

She professed a faith in Christ at an early age and became a member of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Anguilla, Mississippi.

She received her education from South Delta School District and proudly graduated with the Class of 1996. She later worked twenty years at Ameristar Casino in Vicksburg, Mississippi, where she was known for her hard work and warm spirit.

Lawanda faced her battle with lupus with remarkable strength and courage. A special heartfelt gratitude of thanks to Dr. Deidre Ivory, Dr. K. McDaniel, and Dr. Sarah York for their dedicated care and support.

Lawanda exemplified, 1 Peter 4:8-9 and her kindness drew people to her. She touched and shaped the lives of many while she was upon this earth.

On Friday, December 19, 2025, Lawanda departed this earthly home, and she is now resting in the arms of the Lord. Her departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. While we mourn her physical presence, we know that her love and wisdom will guide us on throughout life's journey.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry L Cody. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving mother, Rosie Hampton of Rolling Fork, MS; (1) one brother, Antwan Cody of Murfreesboro, TN; (3) three sisters: Valencia Hampton of Rolling Fork, MS, Verneshia Cody of Jackson, MS and Laketra Willams Booker of Mayersville, MS. She is also being lovingly remembered by her special aunt, Laura Hampton, niece, Denisha Hampton, nephew, DiMarcus Hampton and a host of other relatives and friends.
