Ms. Mildred Smith was born September 3, 1953 in Anguilla, Mississippi to the late Henry and Keceilia Smith.

At an early age, Mildred confessed a hope in Christ and joined the Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Family in Anguilla, Mississippi, under the leadership of Rev. C.D. Dixon. She lived out her life serving as both a faithful member and an usher. Later, Mildred joined the New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville, Mississippi under the leadership of Pastor Myron Holmes. Mildred attended and graduated from Henry Weathers High School in Rolling Fork, Mississippi in 1973. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education from Langston University in Langton, Oklahoma in 1977; where she became a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., and a Master's Degree in Special Education from Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, Mississippi in 2006.

Mildred worked as a Program Coordinator for Work Activity Services of Mississippi Christian Family Services in Rolling Fork, Mississippi until 1989. She relocated to Greenville, Mississippi, and worked at Mississippi Delta Community Mental Health as a Program Director for Work Activity Services until she retired in 2015. Mildred has always been passionate, dedicated, and hardworking. She loved her family and church family. Mildred relocated to Roswell, Georgia in June 2022.

Our beloved Mildred departed her earthly life on Monday, September 5, 2022, @ 12:45 am at North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, Georgia. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Henry Clay and Keceilia Nick Smith, one brother, Eddie Lee Black, and three sisters, Orangie Lee Jackson, Sadie Lee Davis, and Rose Mary Oliver.

Mildred leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Lazarritt Deon (Kathleen) Smith of Noblesville, Indiana, Deshavion Lamar Smith of Atlanta, Georgia, one daughter, Bededra Marshae Smith of Rowsell, Georgia, three sisters, Dorothy (Harrison) Diggs of Pearl, Mississippi, Wanda (Roosevelt) Harris of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Betty Smith of Roswell, Georgia, two brothers, Johnny (Rose) Hackett, and Henry (Betty) Smith both of Anguilla, Mississippi.

Three granddaughters, DeAngela Smith, Tamyia Brothers, and Deonna Smith, five grandsons, De'Aires Smith, Isaiah Hartman, James Hornbuckle-Smith, Xavier Smith, Josiah Smith, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

Mildred will be greatly missed by all whose lives she has touched. Her faith and her strength were an inspiration to her family, friends, and community.
