Patrick "Pat" Carl (Polk) Lucas was born on February 20, 1955, to the late Henryne and Melvin Lucas. Pat was reared in Rolling Fork, MS by his Grandparents, Henry and Della Polk along with his sister Barbara. Patrick transitioned this life on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at his home in Apollo Beach, FL.

Patrick confessed his faith in Christ at an early age at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Rolling Fork, MS, under the leadership of Rev. Richardson.

Patrick was a graduate of Rolling Fork High School where he played basketball, football, and ran track. He was a standout athlete and received a scholarship to Mississippi Delta Community College. After his time at Mississippi Delta, he received a scholarship to Delta State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in criminology. Following his graduation, Patrick ran qualifying times for the 1980 Olympics in track, but due to a boycott he was unable to compete for a spot on the team. Patrick also attended professional basketball workouts with the Seattle Supersonics, before an injury derailed his basketball career.

Patrick was employed by the US Department of Justice as a Senior Officer Specialist and Counselor at the following correctional insti-tutions: Mississippi State Penitentiary (Parchman), Metro Correction Center (Chicago), Metro Detention Center (Los Angeles), Federal Correction Institution Center (Ft. Dix, NJ), US Penitentiary (Atlanta).

Patrick retired in 2012, after 30 years of Law Enforcement employment. Patrick was united in Holy Matrimony to Wanda Morehead on November 1, 1992.

Patrick leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife and best friend, Wanda, Apollo Beach, FL; children: Bruce McCaleb, Apollo Beach, FL; Shamya Matlock, Atlanta, GA; Daphne Young (Derrick) Rosedale, MS; Courtney Howard (Le'Tez), Memphis, TN; Joshua Jones (Sharonica), Horn Lake, MS; Ernest Daniel Scott (Claire), Chicago, IL.

Siblings: Barbara Hill (Bruce) Florence, KY; Karen Lucas and Melvin Lucas, Jr. Chicago, IL; Helen Chaple-Harmon, Chicago, IL.

Grandchildren: Markus, Jase, Trey, Zoey Faye, Joyce, Dakota, Landon, Jaheim, Matalynn, Malayna, Sha'Derricka, Deviyonna, Auriyona, Diara.

Aunt: Laverne Stampley, Chicago, IL; Great Aunt: Alice Moffett, Rolling Fork, MS

Father-in-law: James Moorehead, Apollo Beach, FL; Sisters-in-law: Patricia Daniels, Eastdale, CA; Brenda Sereiki, Altadena, CA. Host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Patrick was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was always ready to lend a helping hand whenever needed. He was deeply loved and will be missed.
