Tavares Washington was born on April 20, 1983 in Greenville, Mississippi. He returned to his heavenly father on January 2, 2024. While his time with us was short, the imprint he left on our hearts will last forever.

Tavares displayed remarkable athletic skills and unwavering determination during his time at South Delta High School in Mississippi which led to a scholarship at Mississippi Delta Community College and subsequently the prestigious University of Florida where he played from 2002 to 2005.
While at UF, he became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. where he formed unbreakable bonds and learned invaluable life lessons. Affectionately nicknamed "Sweet T" by his teammates, his contributions on the field were matched by his positive attitude and friendly demeanor off the field, making him a beloved figure among colleagues, teammates, and fans alike. After his college career, he embarked on a professional journey which led him to the San Francisco 49ers followed by the Washington Redskins and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Following his time in the NFL, he continued his football career with the Las Vegas Locomotives in the UFL where he played a pivotal role in helping the team secure a championship victory. His commitment and talent were evident, leaving a lasting impact on the field and off the field.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Tavares' highest priorities were his family and friends. In 2012, Tavares married his college sweetheart, Kristin, and moved to Charlotte, North Carolina where they built a life together filled with extensive traveling and excursions. He had an immeasurable love for Mississippi and enjoyed returning home to hunt, working at the welding shop with his father, Elijah Washington, and spending time with his family.

His life was forever changed following the birth of his sons, Tristan (9) and Trenton (6). Tavares loved being a father above all and spent every waking moment cherishing his time with his boys. He returned to his passion for football by coaching at Charlotte Country Day School where he impacted the lives of so many students, parents and staff. He was revered by the community for his entrepreneurial spirit and larger than life personality.

His impact on the football world, devotion to his beautiful wife and children, and his love for his family and friends created lasting memories that touched the lives of others forever.

As we reflect on his life, Tavares Washington's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of so many.

Tavares was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Williams.

Tavares is survived by his loving wife, Kristin Washington, and his adoring sons, Tristan and Trenton Washington; a devoted father, Elijah Washington, and siblings, Melonia Williams, Tuterium Washington, Terrale Washington (Jessica), Kenta Washington (Katrina), Jelessa Washington (Demetrius), Jerrica Davis, Torrance Hoye (Roshonda), Michael Clark (Mona), Katrina Clark, and Malcolm Joor; a special nephew and niece, Damonyae Williams and Jamarria Taylor, a god-son "RJ" and a god-daughter Bailey, mother-in-law, Valerie Mitchell; father-in-law, Perry Mitchell; brother-in-law, Cedric Mitchell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
